Type of Scale (UDPV Definitions)

The following table contains the values for the UDPV object and a description of how it is to be used.

Value

Description

AGE

Indicates a scale based on the members age in years as to how the Formula Applied To may be further categorized.  This is an existing code.

AGE MONTHS

Indicates a scale based on the members age in months as to how the Formula Applied To may be further categorized.  This is an existing code.

AGE YEARS

Indicates a scale based on the members age in years as to how the Formula Applied To may be further categorized.  This is an existing code.

AMOUNT

An existing code.

COUNTDEPEND

Determine the number of client relationship records of type DEPENDANT and DISABLED DEPENDANT and return this result. (Use Formula Type of MULTIPLE when this Type of Scale is used).

COVER FACTOR

An existing code.

DATE

Applies the scale for the source date based on the date criteria specified in the From and To Date periods. Where only the From date has been specified, then only those member dates >= to the From Date qualify. And similarly with the To Date.  It also enables the date fields on the benefit scale window. This type has been reinstated as it was marked to be removed since version 5 of this document.

DATE GREATER

Retrieves the member data where the effective date is greater than the date defined on the scale itself or via the Calculation Parameter.

DATE LESS

Retrieves the member data where the effective date is less than the date defined on the scale itself or via the Calculation Parameter.

DOXTYR-DEFERTYR

Used in conjunction with the SECTION 148 Calculation Parameter lookup to determine the X and Y coordinates.  The DOXTYR retrieves the end tax year in which the member exited. DEFERTYR retrieves the end tax year for the period when the member became deferred. The tax period month and day is obtained from the Tax Tables for the territory for the member.

DCPHI-DODINCFCT

Determine the complete number of years between DCPHI and DOD, if the member has no DCPHI stop and return 1.

If the member has a DCPHI date, then use the number of complete years calculated and look up in the table holding the index percentages (to be set up as a table named INDEXEDINCREASE under the BENCALC) the annual increase date prior to the DCPHI date and start multiplying (1+% for that year) * (1 + % for next year) etc until it is done for the number of years calculated in the UDPV.

The final result of the UDPV is either 1 (for active) or the TotalBenSalInc (for PHI).

MONTHS

An existing code.

NRA-YY TO NRD

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter.

RATE TABLE

To specify the calculation of consulting fees based on the LOA scales maintained at a global level.

SALARY

An existing code.

SALARY YEARS

To specify the number of years (salary years) on Scale of Benefits.  This will enable the scale to be captured and is to be used in conjunction with calculation method of "PREPHI". E.g:

0-4 yrs    - 5%

5-99yrs  - 100%

SERVICE MONTHS

Indicates a scale based on the members service in years as to how the Formula Applied To may be further categorized.  This is an existing code.

SERVICE YEARS

Indicates a scale based on the members service in years as to how the Formula Applied To may be further categorized.  This is an existing code.

SERVICE

Indicates a scale based on the members service in months as to how the Formula Applied To may be further categorized.  This is an existing code.

SLIDING SCALE

Calculates a benefit using a sliding scale. E.g. a PHI benefit may be expressed as 75% of the first R10,000 of salary, plus 50% of the next R10,000 and so on.  This is an existing code.

TOTDEPEND ALLOC

Determine the number of client relationship records of type DEPENDANT and DISABLED DEPENDANT and read the appropriate scale for that number to determine the % to be applied.

AGE-YIELD%

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter. (X before dash and Y after dash)

YEARSTONRD

Used for factor look up

YEARSAFTERNRD

Used for factor look up

YY TO NRD-YLD%

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameters.

SPA-AGE

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter. (X before dash and Y after dash)

REVAL-AGE

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter.  The REVAL rate is retrieved from the member values table under GMP, SCHEME, FIXED (or SECTION 148).

IDX YIELD%-AGE

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter.  The IDX YIELD% would refer to the INDEX YIELD value on the Global Parameters.

% OF DEPENDANT

Calculates the percentage of the member’s pension to be allocated to the dependants.  Benefit Products of this type will enable the Spouses and Children Portions menu item where the % per spouse or dependant can be captured.

AGE 60-YIELD%

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter.   (X before dash and Y after dash). The X parameter refers to the Side label on the Global Parameters and Y to Top Label. Where only one parameter is supplied on the Type Of Scale (e.g. Years to NRD), then this would refer to the Top Label.

AGE FACTOR

Reads for the commutation factor

AGE NEAR

Use the Calculation Method of AGEEXACT with a rounding method of YRS/MNTHS NEAREST. This will then return 24 yrs 8 months 2 days as 24.66666667 as the maximum number of decimal is 8 for this result type in the system.

AGE NEAR-YIELD%

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter.

AGENEAR-YRDOB

For the X axis in the calculation, refer to AGE NEAR above.  For the Y axis in the calculation, the year of DOB is retrieved.

YY TO NRD-NRA

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter.

YIELD%-AGE

Used for factor look up on X and Y parameter
