Templates

Definition

A template is a logical grouping of transaction and actions.

 

A template may contain one transaction with one action, or it may contain a number of transactions with a number of actions associated with each transaction.

 

Users' access to templates depends on the user groups to which they belong.

 

Selecting a template

From the main menu on top, select Access, then from the sub-menu on the left select Template.

 

 

Additional options will be displayed.

 

 

Select Maintain.

 

The EA819 Template Maintain screen will be displayed.

 

 

Click the LINK button alongside the Name field.  .  This links to the EA827 Template List screen and displays a list of templates from which to select.

 

 

Note:

The template called NEWTRANS is designed to be used as a place-holder for all new transaction codes added to the system in future releases.  Do not assign this template to any user/user-group.

 

Once a selection has been made, click SELECT on the toolbar.  The list of transactions and actions for the selected template will be displayed.

 

 

To display the associated actions for a selected transaction, click EXPAND.

To re-display the transactions only, click CONTRACT

 

Adding a template

On the EA819 Template Maintain screen, enter a name and description for the template, then click NEW.  The EA819 Template Maintain screen will be re-displayed.  Highlight the required transaction code, then click INSERT.  The data is now stored.

 

Modifying a template

From the EA819 Template Maintain screen, highlight the required transaction code, then click the LINK button.

 

The EA819 Template List screen will be displayed.  Continue as described in Selecting a template and Adding a template above.

 

Adding transactions to a template

From the EA819 Template Maintain screen, highlight the required transaction code, then click EXPAND.

 

To insert actions selectively, highlight each of the required actions, then click INSERT.

 

To insert actions for all associated actions simultaneously, highlight the main transaction code, then click INSERT.

 

A Y will appear in the Grouped? column to confirm that transactions have been inserted.

 

Note:

If you have not displayed the associated actions for the relevant transaction (by clicking EXPAND), no actions will be associated to that transaction.

 

Search facility

You can search for specific transaction codes (or transaction codes from a specific starting point.

 

From the EA819 Template Maintain screen, click CRITERIA.

 

The EA819 Starting Criteria screen will be displayed.

 

 

Field notes:

 

Transcode

To find all transaction codes from a specific starting point, enter the transaction code (or part thereof).

List grouped items only

If this box is ticked, only transactions assigned to this template will be displayed.

If this box is left blank, all transactions linked and still available to be linked will be displayed.

 

Viewing transactions and actions

To view the transactions and actions linked to a template, select a template from the EA827 Template List screen and click SELECT

 

The EA819 Template Maintain screen will be displayed.

 

 

Click CRITERIA on the right of the screen.  The EA819 Criteria Selection screen will be displayed.

 

 

Tick the List grouped items only box and click OK.

 

The EA819 Template Maintain screen will be displayed, and now displays all the transactions linked to the Template. (Grouped = Y).

 

 

This screen now displays all the transactions linked to the Template (Grouped = Y).

 

To view the actions linked to the transaction, highlight a transaction and click EXPAND on the right of the screen.

 

The action code will be displayed in the Action Code column of the EA819 Template Maintain screen for the selected Transaction.
