Tax Process

Purpose

The following is a summary of the processes for the processing of tax for benefit payments and annuities including the system processes and the manual processes performed via SARS’s e@syFILE application.

 

Benefit Payments

Daily:

-   Capture tax directive details on the system for each benefit payment

-   Request tax directive file on the system and submit to SARS via SARS’ Income Tax System (ITS) daily

-   Receive tax directive return file from SARS via ITS from which the benefit payment details will be updated automatically on the system

-   Print IRP5 or IT3A certificate on the system per benefit payment

 

Monthly:

-   Process bulk payment on the system and remit payment to SARS by the 7th of the month and capture the Due Date for the payment equal to the month for which the payment is due.

-   Complete EMP201 form on eFiling via e@syFILE and submit to SARS

 

Half yearly (September & March):

-   Request tax certificate (IRP5/IT3A) file on the system and import it into SARS’ e@syFILE application

-   Complete EMP501 form on e@syFILE

-   Complete EMP701 form on e@asyFILE for any adjustments

 

Annuities

Monthly:

-   Process bulk payment on the system and remit payment to SARS by the 7th of the month and capture the Due Date for the payment equal to the month for which the payment is due.

-   Complete EMP201 from and submit to SARS

 

Half yearly (September & March):

-   Request tax certificate (IRP5/IT3A) file on the system and import it into SARS’ e@syFILE application

-   Complete EMP501 form on e@syFILE

-   Complete EMP701 form on e@asyFILE for any adjustments

-   Print tax certificates (IRP5/IT3A) and mail to annuitants. The certificates can be printed on the system or from the PDF documents created by e@asyFILE.
