There are some differences between the resignation, death and disability claim processes. The explanations provided in this section relate to a resignation claim. In order to cover all aspects of claims processing, further screens relating to death claims and disability claims specifically have been included.
The death and disability claims differ from the resignation claim in that they have no payment allocation option on the sub-menu on the left. For death claims, there are additional screens for death details and beneficiaries, and for disability claims, there is an additional screen for disability detail. Completion of tax details, offshore service, and prior claims are the same as for resignation benefits. Refer to

Disability Claim
To cater for funeral benefits, the following events can be selected, and this will not result in the member being exited:
- spouse's funeral
- child's funeral
- family member's funeral
If any of these events is selected, the scale for the benefit product linked to the benefit package is read, and the number of scales is determined. If benefits have been paid previously, or if the full number of benefits has already been paid, an error message will be displayed and the claim cannot be processed.

Adding a Funeral Benefit
In the case of preservation schemes, if a partial withdrawal claim is being initiated for a member who has had a previous partial withdrawal, various validations are done and appropriate warning and error messages may be displayed. Where a percentage of the transfer value has been retained, the gross benefit amount will be reduced by the retained percentage before the benefit scales are applied in the benefit calculations. When the partial withdrawal exit has been finalized, the member's status is reverted back to LIVE and additional claims may then be initiated.
Multiple Partial Withdrawals
In order to allow for multiple partial withdrawals where the Country is not RSA or where the Country is RSA and the Type of Fund is not Retirement, the Territory Parameter field must be set to MULT PARTL WDWL. In other words the value of MULT PARTL WDWL must be selected from the drop-down list for the Type field on the JU1EU Territory Parameter Maintain screen.
