This is a summary of the different system parameters (UDPV’s) used in the flexible benefit rules and describes how they are used to define a benefit calculation component.
Note:
Schemes use either Standard Benefit Rules or Flexible Benefit Rules. Some parameter fields are particular to a certain set of benefit rules while others are used by both sets of benefit rules. Those parameter fields applicable to one set of benefit rules will only be displayed when a scheme using that particular set of benefit rules is selected.
Where the parameter fields documented here apply only to one set of benefit rules, this is indicated.
The parameters used to define a benefit calculation, known in the system as a benefit product, are the following:
- Benefit Type
- Formula Type
- Type of Result
- Formula Applied To
- Type of Scale
- Accounting
- Calculation Method
- Rounding Method
- System Tag
- User Defined
Where the values in a calculation (Benefit Product) are based on a scale, these are defined in a scale linked to the Benefit Product, and these scales are defined using the following system parameters (UDPV’s):
- Calculation Parameter
- Classification
Each of these, and the values for each, are described in the relevant sections in this document.
