Creating a Member Web Site

Overview

This section sets out the steps to be followed for you to go live on the web for member access.

Process

You will need to register an external domain for member access (e.g. www.xyz.co.za).  If a domain already exists (e.g. www.bytes.co.za), you need to decide whether you wish to use something like (for example) member.bytes.co.za.

If you opt for a new domain, you need to ask your ISP to register a new DNS entry for www.xyz.co.za.  If you use your existing domain, you need to request the DNS for your chosen name (e.g. member.bytes.co.za).

At this stage, let the Vendor know what the new domain is called.

The Vendor will configure the web site on the existing systems server and create a secure certificate request file.  You will then need to send the SSL Certificate file to Thawte or Verisign, and purchase a commercial SSL certificate.

Once you have received the new SSL certificate, send a copy to the Vendor for loading onto the new web site.

You need to add the new certificate onto your ISA server, and to configure a Listener (reverse-proxy) for the secure site https://www.xyz.co.za or https:// member.bytes.co.za.

You will now be able to test external access and inform your members.
