Adding a new Occupation Code (Overview)

Permitted values are values that are coded within the system tables for the purposes of data input and validation.

Permitted values that apply across all schemes are set-up at an infrastructure level by a high-level user.  Once a permitted value has been defined, it can be selected from a drop-down box on various screens.

Some of these permitted values cannot be added or updated by the user as they result in specific actions within the system.  The following are examples of some permitted values that can be added or updated by users:

-          Occupation

-          Title

The following actions are necessary to add a new permitted value:

-          Create the new permitted value at a global level

-          Map the field to the relevant system

-          Link the new permitted value to the scheme

This document describes the addition of a new occupation code.
