Advanced payments can be paid before a benefit payment is finalized.
An advanced payment is typically required in the case of death benefits where an amount is advanced to the spouse of a deceased member while the trustees complete the process of determining the distribution. This advanced payment must be made prior to the finalizing of the details of a claim.
A benefit request will be created with a disposal instruction for the payment in the Advance Payment process. When the actual claim is processed, the same benefit request will be used and the disposal instruction will be offset against the amount allocated to the same beneficiary.
To create an advances payment update type, click ADD ADVANCED PAYMENT. The JU4CN Benefit Payment Process screen will be displayed, showing the ADVANCE PAYMENT update type, with an open status.
